This document explains how to modify a standard Adaptive RS232 cable and connect it to the RS232 Terminal strip inside the Alpha Solar display for RS232 communications. This document also explains RS232 limitations on cable length. Another wiring technique, that does not require cutting the RS232 cable, is to make an RS232 adapter using a 6-conductor surface mount phone jack. See Tech Memo 05-0004 for additional information.
